I am re-designing the packaging for NISSIN Foods products: cup noodles, top ramen and chow mein. The flavors are: chicken, beef, shrimp and vegan. Although it's not a home-made food, I'm trying to communicate the idea of welcoming, warm, inviting mood for busy people' meal. Also, it should have a sense of Japanese traditions. I'm trying to design a box that would be fun to open. At the same time, it's all about convenience.

You should keep the cup type design for the cup of noodles because it's supposed to be a just add water type of meal. Having it in a box-type container would not go well with "just add water."
ReplyDeleteFor the other two ramen type products, since the customer is able to cook it in the microwave or by adding water in a separate bowl, the design can be those box shapes. I think designing a box that'll open easily will work for your design. The customers who eat ramen don't usually have luxurious time to eat, so making the container open fast is something that they will find useful in their daily lives.
I like the designs of all of these. It's very elegant, clean, and simple but if I had to choose, I would choose one that is easy to open and pop in the microwave. I like the idea of including a fork and napkin in it as well because a lot of times, people forget their utensils.
ReplyDeleteOverall, they all look great. =)
wow i mean wow all of the packaging design are really good if you go with anyone of them you'll do fine the only thing i would say to work more on is the actual cup it self maybe making wider so you can reach the bottom of the cup/bowl.
ReplyDeleteI like your color/shape coded I.D. system for labeling the package. I would keep the tapered box shape for the outer wrapping. It is something people associate with Cup-O-Noodles.
ReplyDeleteI agree with christine, the cup shape should be maintained so you can cook it in the microwave in the same container it comes in. The slide-on insulator sleeve is a good idea as well, and I like the Nissin logo with the black background.
ReplyDeletewow I like them
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of having a small fork and napkin with the soup and all you do is add water and i also like the die cut of the type of flavors.
The last paper, bottom right tapered looks nice. Boxes don't seem appealing to food. I automatically think, lots of preparation time. Plus, tapered boxes mimic the chinese takeout boxes and therefore symbolize the "to-go" aspect of your design. What colors are you planning? I like your flavor icons being the shapes.
